AAPHWS warns
against illegal collection of donation
ITANAGAR, Nov 22: Claiming that some of its members are illegally collecting donation and selling seasonal calendars and housie tickets in the capital and state, All Arunachal Pradesh Handicapped Welfare Society (AAPHWS) today cautioned them to refrain from such illegal activity. The Society threatened to initiative legal action against those who are found to be involved in such activity.

A total of 21 agricultural extension workers from different areas of Tirap district participated in the training programme.
In the inauguration session, the purpose of the training was explained by Dr. DS Chhonkar, Programme Coordinator, KVK Tirap. He urged the participants to avail full benefit out of the programme to increase the production and productivity of crops through sustainable agriculture.
The training was imparted by Dr. Simanta Kumar Kalita, SMS (Agronomy), KVK, Tirap, Deomali. He delivered lectures on the different aspects of sustainable agriculture in respect of food security and food safety including prospects and feasibility of System of Rice Intensification (SRI) and vermicompost in Tirap district. He also clarified different enquiries of the participants on sustainable agriculture and crop production.

CWW visits Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary
ITANAGAR, Nov 22: Chief Wildlife Warden (CWW) Omkar Singh visited Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary yesterday to take stock of the various activities undertaken in the sanctuary.
During the visit, he interacted with the field staff and protection squad and inquired about their problems. He also checked the entry register maintained at the check gate at Ramalingam.
Singh also visited the ecotourism camps run by Bugun Welfare Society and was quite impressed with the welfare activities undertaken by Bugun Welfare Society.
Singh also interacted with the village panchayat members and lauded the effort of Shertukpen and Bugun communities in protecting Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary.
Earlier, Singh was briefed about the ongoing proposal of declaring a Community Reserve around Eaglenest Sanctuary by Bugun Welfare Society Chairman Indi Glow and sought his help in this regard.

ALSU demands immediate arrest of remaining culprits
ITANAGAR, Nov 22: The Arunachal Law Students’ Union (ALSU) has demanded police to immediately arrest the remaining culprits involved in the murder of Bomjen Gapak on May 27 last.
Urging the authority concerned to strictly deal with all the accused as per law, ALSU demanded to make public the details of the case in media after the investigation process is over.
The students union appealed to individuals and organizations not to intervene in the matter by supporting the accused.

5 arrested in rape and murder case
ITANAGAR, Nov 22: Basar Police have arrested five persons in connection with the alleged rape and murder of one Bompi Kali of Daring village, whose body was recovered from roadside near Nyigam village on October 13.
The police team led by Basar Police station OC T. Tali, SI and Tirbin Police Station OC RN Singh, SI, under supervision of Basar ADC Kangki Darang apprehend the five alleged accused, namely Naga Sona (22), Mohan Mahato (39), Birendra Mahato (32), Raja Ram Shah (18) and Ashok Biswaklarma (28) on November 19. All the accused have been remanded to police custody for 14 days.

UAEA(elect) alleges violation of RR
ITANAGAR, Nov 22: The Unemployed Arunachalee Engineers’ Association (UAEA, electrical), has alleged the Department of Power of violating recruitment rules by not maintaining the 50:50 methods of direct recruitment and promotion in the Recruitment Rules.
According to the association, the state government had sanctioned 10 AE, three EE and one SE posts in the department of power on July four this year. But the department did not maintain the 50:50 methods of recruitment rules of1993 and promoted the candidates on officiating basis against the sanctioned post.
While opposing the promotion on officiating basis, the association demanded a fresh advertisement against the posts.

Speaking during the inaugural session, Development Commissioner, Ramesh Negi highlighted the importance of information and mentioned that information could be preserved through documentation only.

Good initiative should be supported and appreciated
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I would like to seek the kind attention and clarify the confusion of my dearest brother one Nangram Piter, RTI Chairman (AUEA) who wrote an article “Arunachalee should compete with contemporary world not amongst tribes” published on 21st Nov’2013 in reader’s forum column.
My dearest brother in a passage of your article, you have rightly pointed out that Nyishi’s of Kurung Kumey district can’t easily understand what Nyishi’s of East Kameng District speaks. But I feel that it does not mean that Nyishi should not protect their only dialect. This slight variation in pronouncing a word should not compel an illiterate person of Kurung Kumey to communicate in English to an illiterate person of East Kameng.
And also you are very right that Kurung Kumey District has lowest literacy rate, we do accept it, but I feel that it should not mean that, few literate people of the district should remain in folded hand.
In your article, you have also reflected a concern for the Nyishi illiterate Society (NIS), its fine, I appreciate it. But my dear, illiterates are illiterates, they can’t read and write, though it may be written in any scripts may it be in TANI LIPI….
I also feel that lack of teachers in schools of Nyishi areas should not be an obstacle for the other Nyishi’s, who has the abilities to do other greater or noble things such as writing good books and publishing good articles in their own dialect. It should be not that, one should not own a car because his/her village is not connected with road, though he/she is staying at Itanagar…By this, all I mean to say is that, lets appreciate the good part of others and so as lets appreciate and encourage “THE GUMGU RUMRU”.
I don’t think that the Editor/Publisher of the very paper must have ill intention towards others; they must have not started the paper to compete with other tribes such as SUPUNG PUYU and ARUNACHAL AUNG, its ill logical to think that. Rather they must have taken inspiration or copied from the same concept. Off course, copying good things are good. And one must be very clear that copying is sharing of ideas and way of spreading knowledge to compete with the contemporary world.
Thus, I would say that “GUMGU RUMRU” will not be like a planting Lily flower in the mid of desert, rather it would be beneficial in protecting our own tribal dialect in some way or other. Through this, I would also, appreciate the concept of TANI LIPI, but we should not forget the wordings of our own local dialect before the flourish of TANI LIPI. Therefore, “GUMGU RUMRU” will have a big deal in protecting wording of our local dialect.

Prevent illegal timber logging
Dear Editor,
On behalf of the people of Dambuk & Bijari area of Lower Dibang Valley district we would like to state that the forest reserve area of Arunachal Pradesh is depleting at a stupendous speed. It is due to the continuous illegal timber exploitation right under the nose of the so called forest officials. Particularly the specific area i.e. Dambuk ADC Headquarter area under Lower Dibang Valley district of Arunachal Pradesh, where illegal timber logging is a common phenomenon which is carried on right under the very presence of the forest officials. It leads us to believe that the covert operation is undertaken in connivance with the forest officials.
The river Dotung that flows through Dambuk via Bijari & the Sissiri River that flows through Bizari and into Brahmaputra (Assam) are used as a mode of transport for trading of illegal Timber & Cane from the forest reserve area of Arunachal and supplying to neighboring Assam. Also the forest plantation area in Dambuk is undergoing rampant cutting just for smuggling the wood by the people as well as official as a result there is no one to check it. The district administration has failed dismally to check the menace. After repeated complaints from the public, the newly appointed ADC of Dambuk convened a meeting regarding the situation but the R.F.O was conspicuous by his absence. We shudder to wonder that if the attitude of the current forest official is such then who will protect the forests from the poachers and stealing of timber. It is a known fact that global warming has far reaching effect and the forest cover are of utmost importance and it is a matter of great concern as to what will happen if every forest official is not serious about their job. Thus it is a sincere appeal to the higher and concerned authorities of Arunachal Pradesh Forest Department, the Government of Arunachal Pradesh and our Political leaders to please take a note of the grim situation and take immediate action before the water rises over the head. If the administration fails to take the necessary action then the Youth group will be forced to take action/movement against the department.

A survey conducted by the ministry of women and child development (WCD) revealed

Parents find it awkward speaking about the natural adolescent changes, let alone briefing their children about sexual behaviour. Our hesitation to approach topics related to sex makes it difficult for children to express themselves when they have faced any form of sexual abuse. Children might not be able to distinguish between facts and myths about sexual abuse. In the absence of proper sex education, children do not have the understanding of what is wrong sexual behavior. Children often do not have the right vocabulary to describe an act that is sexually oriented.
We as parents/guardians are uncertain when to introduce our children to sex education. What is the right age, we ask. When children become curious, that’s the time they need this answer. Small children who are just exploring their bodies and are learning body parts, too, need the right kind of information that is appropriate for their age. Let the children know that no one should be allowed to touch these body parts and if they feel wrong about anyone doing it so should be reprted to you. Also, teach children to be firm and say ‘NO’ to any person who makes them feel uncomfortable by touching them inappropriately.
Despite all your efforts, sometimes the unwanted happens. Most children are reluctant to speak about what happened with them due to fear, guilt etc. This can only be comprehended by observing certain behaviour changes in your child like depression, anxiety, withdrawal, fear of being alone with a particular person, nightmare, sleep disorder etc. Sometimes children give hints. Listen to your child when he/she says that something wrong happened; never blame your child for the incident. Children who are not able to express the problem might say things like “I don’t like that person” or “don’t leave me alone” etc.
With statics revealing that half of the crimes are committed by persons known to the victims and the family, never leave your child with a person or a caretaker who your child is uncomfortable with. Last but not the least; give your child an open communication channel so that he/she will not hesitate to tell you if anything wrong happens. And when your child confides in you, believe them, get medical help, professional counseling’s and report the abuse.
Being a mother of two small children myself, i feel strongly about this increasing crime against young children and wish to share my concern with other parents and guardians. Remember, child sexual abuse can happen to any child, anywhere. Being alert is one act of prevention.

It is in this context that allegation leveled against him by his fellow colleague is very serious in nature. One do not expect person like him who is role model for many budding journalists to indulge in such shameful act. The incident happens at a time when whole country is still yet to overcome the trauma of Nirbhaya gang rape incident. Though Tejpal has apologized to the victim journalist and also ‘recusing’ himself from the post of editor in chief of Tehelka for six month, one wonder is that really enough? He ought to be treated like any another criminal and Goa police, where incident took place, should immediately start criminal proceeding against him. Press Council of India should also step in and ensure that he does not return to editorial board till proper investigation is done.
